OpenAI investigates ChatGPT and Codex outage

OpenAI said it was investigating an outage affecting ChatGPT and Codex, while the company’s next model, Astra, was expected soon and had not been linked to the service problems.

ChatGPT and Codex were hit by an outage that began at about 10:58 AM ET on Thursday, 3 September. Users reported failures across core ChatGPT functions, including conversations, login, search, uploads, Voice mode, GPTs, image generation, Deep Research and Agent.

OpenAI said on its status page that it was looking into the issue. The page said at least 15 ChatGPT components were affected.
