OpenAI was reported to be negotiating for about 100,000 square feet at Shaw Tower on Beach Road. The deal would cover five floors, and the company currently worked from CapitaSpring through The Work Project, where it was understood to have about 100 desks.
In May, OpenAI said it would open a Singapore lab as its first outside the United States. It said it would hire more than 200 specialist staff over the next few years with a S$300 million investment and a memorandum with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information.
Anthropic had already taken roughly 100 desks at The Executive Centre in Ocean Financial Centre. Mistral AI told the paper that it had leased office space in Asia Square and expected to move in early October, while Sierra was said to have taken about 10,000 square feet at Keppel South Central and had a partnership with Singtel.
The article said Manus AI was also heading to Keppel South Central and had agreed to take about half of Industrious's 20,714 square feet there, with an option for the rest later. It said Manus had been using Meta's Singapore offices after a US$2 billion acquisition announced in December 2025, but that China blocked the deal in April and Manus said on 11 August it would soon operate independently.
Property consultants said the AI companies were adding a new source of office demand in Singapore. Savills Singapore's Alan Cheong said the pace of AI change meant it was not yet clear whether the sector would become a lasting pillar of demand.
