Airbnb said a new agreement gave its engineering and product development teams broader access to OpenAI frontier models, including GPT-6 Astra. The company said the access came through OpenAI’s APIs and Amazon Bedrock on AWS.
The company said the change built on its use of Codex and on a long-running relationship with OpenAI. It said engineers used an internal AI platform to write software and build remote AI agents with models including Codex, GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra and Luna.
Airbnb said early work with GPT-6 Astra had helped engineers in tasks beyond coding. It said the model had been used to find bugs, work on system design and consider engineering approaches.
Ahmad Al-Dahle, Airbnb’s chief technology officer, said the company’s development teams were shipping about 80% more features than a year earlier. He said OpenAI’s frontier models were an important part of the tooling behind that pace.
Dali Rajic, OpenAI’s chief revenue officer, said Airbnb had been using AI to change how software was built and that the expanded access gave its teams more capability. Airbnb also said it used OpenAI models in search, fraud prevention, guest and host support, and insurance claims.
