Import AI covered minds, robotics and TPUs in space
The newsletter reviewed Michael Levin's paper on Platonic mind patterns, a robotics post on post-training, Google's Project Suncatcher update, and Zhipu AI's account of using GLM-5.3 to speed its own infrastructure work.
- Michael Levin published a paper arguing that minds and brains could be understood as patterns and interfaces in a Platonic space.
- Perry Dong and Chelsea Finn said robotics needed a standard post-training recipe and described EXPO(-FT) as an early attempt.
- Google said it was preparing Project Suncatcher with Planet for a SpaceX rideshare mission and that Trillium TPUs survived radiation above a five-year space-mission level.
- Zhipu AI said its Infra Agent, powered by GLM-5.3, helped launch GLM-5.3 Flash and tripled end-to-end throughput in under two weeks.
Levin argued that minds could be treated as patterns that entered the physical world through bodies and brains. The newsletter said the paper drew on synthetic morphology, diverse intelligence, xenobots and anthrobots, but did not present decisive experiments.
Dong and Finn argued that robotics had reached a stage similar to language modelling before post-training practices settled. They said the field needed a stable fine-tuning method, shared success criteria, repeatable resets and a way to turn feedback into learning, and they described EXPO(-FT) as an early example.
Google said Project Suncatcher was moving towards space tests with Planet and SpaceX. It said Trillium TPUs survived radiation above the level expected in a five-year space mission, while cooling in vacuum remained the main engineering issue.
Zhipu AI said it used an Infra Agent based on GLM-5.3 to help launch GLM-5.3 Flash. The company said engineers, the agent and the test environment formed a loop, and that throughput rose to three times the starting level in under two weeks.
