Users could save recurring instructions as a Skill and trigger it with a slash command. Gemini could also generate Skills from earlier chats and run them when it detected a matching prompt.
Google said several Skills could be linked together for larger tasks, such as combining a writing style with brand rules. It added that Skills already supported text documents, PDFs and images as reference material.
Google said sharing, Google Drive files and Gemini Notebook integration would arrive in the coming weeks. It also said existing Gems would move over automatically and that the shutdown dates would differ by account type, with Opal also ending in November.
