Anthropic announces new Claude models and programmes
Anthropic published a set of product and research announcements, including new Claude model versions, an expanded cyber access programme, and several internal or public demonstrations of Claude in use.
- Anthropic announced Claude Opus 5.5 and said it cost 40% less to run than Opus 5 on typical workloads.
- It launched an expanded Cyber Verification Program for qualifying security professionals.
- Anthropic introduced Claude Haiku 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5.5 and attached speed and cost claims to both.
- The company also highlighted a Situation Report on an Ebola strain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an economics model for AI by 2030, and Project Deal, a marketplace experiment in its San Francisco office.
Anthropic said Claude Opus 5.5 led in agentic coding and knowledge work, while also running at a lower cost than Opus 5 on typical workloads. It also introduced Claude Haiku 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5.5, describing both as newer versions with faster performance and lower operating costs than earlier releases.
The company said it was expanding its Cyber Verification Program. According to Anthropic, the programme would make advanced cyber capabilities and reduced blocking classifiers available to qualifying security professionals.
Anthropic also pointed to a Situation Report about a rare Ebola strain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It said global health organisations were using Claude to respond quickly.
The page further directed readers to a model from Anthropic’s economics team about possible effects of AI on growth, jobs and wages by 2030. It also described Project Deal, a marketplace experiment in which employees in the San Francisco office used Claude for buying, selling and negotiation.

How the source tells it
The piece is mostly self-promotional, using launch language and performance claims to present Anthropic's updates as major improvements, with a brief note of crisis-driven urgency in the Ebola item.
- vendor boosterism first-person launch copy and comparative speed and cost claims from the company
- hype superlative claims and repeated introducing-style framing without outside benchmarks
- urgency a public health emergency is used to frame Claude’s deployment in response
