Anthropic released Claude Duet as a research preview. The company described it as a standalone app that let an AI agent work on tasks in the background and asked before sensitive actions.
It said the app ran on iOS, Android and the web, and that it used Claude Opus 5.5. Pro and Max subscribers in the US could join a waitlist, while Team and Enterprise plans were not part of the first release.
Anthropic said Duet sent a morning summary from connected accounts and then reached out only when something needed attention. Users could assign work by text or voice in one thread, and the agent ran on a virtual machine so the user's own device did not need to stay on.
The company said Duet linked with Gmail, Slack, Stripe, Docusign and Shopify through more than 6,000 connectors and plugins from the Claude Marketplace. It said the app could track invoices, draft reminders and prepare payroll, and that purchases used Stripe Link with a virtual card.
Anthropic said the system asked for approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting items, and that it blocked bank transfers and securities trading. It also said it had added classifiers, prompt-injection defences, red-team testing and outside attack tests, while early versions could still misread threads or miss messages.
