Reuters said few startups had drawn as much capital as Anthropic, whose valuation had risen through successive funding rounds. It said the company's initial public offering would be used as a test of investor appetite beyond Silicon Valley.
Amazon had put in at least $13 billion, and in April it agreed to invest as much as another $20 billion. Anthropic also committed to spend more than $100 billion on Amazon cloud services over 10 years.
Google had committed up to $40 billion, including an initial $10 billion announced in April. Reuters said the arrangement gave Anthropic cloud infrastructure and access to Google's AI chips for training and running Claude models.
Reuters also said Spark Capital led Anthropic's $450 million Series C in May 2023 and obtained board representation through general partner Yasmin Razavi. It said Lightspeed Venture Partners later led the $3.5 billion Series E in March 2025 and co-led the $13 billion Series F in September 2025 at a $183 billion valuation.
The article also named Fidelity Management & Research, Salesforce Ventures, ICONIQ Capital, GIC, Coatue Management and D1 Capital Partners among the other backers.
